Frequently asked questions
I have always had an affinity with animals and been surrounded by them and this has followed me in to adulthood where I have made it my profession and hobby! I have studied a two year Animal Management (OFQUAL) level 3 course to a distinction level. Here I learnt about the care and welfare of different animal species and involved practical work experience and academic learning. Following this, I moved in to working with dogs and cats professionally.
I have spent 5 years working as a supervisor in a large, well-respected dog and cat boarding facility, where I have gained even more practical knowledge on pet nutrition, group mixing, social dynamics, canine and feline behaviour, health checks and animal handling just to name a few. I have worked with all dog/cat breeds and temperaments, and have also catered to different diets, energy levels, allergies and medical needs. I have my canine first aid certificate and a DBS check for your peace of mind also. It is also worth noting that I spent two months at a dog and cat rescue sanctuary in Thailand. Here, I really utilised all my animal experience to give back and help the lives of the precious animals out there. This was a life changing experience that taught me so much!!
So, the first step after contacting me is to arrange a free meet and greet. This is very relaxed, and is a chance for us to get to know each other, and for your pet(s) to meet me in the comfort of their own home. During the meet and greet, we'll discuss your pet's routines, preferences, and any special care they need. Whether it’s their favourite spots to walk, or specific instructions for their daily care, I’ll make sure I'm all set to provide the best care possible. If your pet has certain behaviour needs, for example is wary around new people, we can take it slow and plan more meets. The meet and greet is the perfect way to ensure both you and your dog feel comfortable and confident with my services.
I always minimise the risks by walking the dogs in safer areas, and supervise them at all times. They are walked on secure leashes or harnesses unless off-lead consent is given by the owner and even then I usually assess the safety of off-leash once me and your dog has a bond. All dogs are provided with an apple air tag attached to be worn on their walks as another safety net. I adjust walks based on their energy-levels and health, and I am canine first aid trained should anything happen. Group walks are limited to 4 dogs, as I believe this minimises risk and allows all dogs to be supervised safely.
